Leann Tilley
Dr. Tilley obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Sydney in 1984. After Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, the College de France and the University of Melbourne, she joined the Biochemistry Department at La Trobe University in 1989. She was appointed Professor in Biochemistry in 2004. She is Director of Research of the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science and Deputy Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coherent Xray Science.Dr. Tilley’s lab at La Trobe University undertakes research in the areas of cell biology and drug development. Her work has particularly concentrated on studies of the malaria parasite. She has extensive experience in using fluorescence, x-ray and electron microscopies to study the cellular architecture of malaria parasite-infected erythrocytes.
